An Evening on the Gold Eagle Floor

Once a day in the Battlefords is done, the evening finishes on the casino floor, a short way off the Yellowhead Highway at 11902 Railway Avenue. Pick an hour in the tool below to see which part is open and how much time it has left, in Saskatchewan time.

How late each night runs

The doors open at 10 am every day, and the close shifts with the day of the week. From Sunday to Wednesday the floor runs until 2 am, and Thursday stretches to 3 am. On Friday and Saturday it stays open until 4 am. A close after midnight falls in the early hours of the next day. It still belongs to the evening before, so Friday's 4 am close is early Saturday.

All hours here are Saskatchewan time, Central Standard Time (UTC-6), which the province keeps all year. Holiday hours are not published anywhere, so the casino's phone, 306-446-3833, is the check before a holiday trip.

Seven days in Saskatchewan time; a finish after midnight stays with the evening it began.

Four evenings at the live tables

Live dealing starts at 5 pm, on four evenings a week. On offer: Blackjack, plus Phil 'Em Up Poker, which is poker dealt across a table. On Thursday they run from 5 pm to 2 am. Friday and Saturday run 5 pm to 3 am, and Sunday 5 pm to 1 am.

Monday to Wednesday has no live tables at all, so a midweek visit means slots and the Circuit. SIGA's profile of the casino lists 6 table games. The casino has no poker room, and there is no live dealing before 5 pm.

Slots and the Circuit

The floor holds more than 300 slot machines. Their denominations run from 1 cent up to $1: 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, 25 cents and $1. A denomination sets the value of one credit on that machine.

Electronic table games go by a single name here: the Circuit. Every seat there comes with its own screen, and the count of those seats is kept unpublished. SIGA's profile puts the whole casino at 40,000 square feet.

Age at the door and the card

Nobody plays here before 19, the legal age across Saskatchewan. SIGA treats a younger player as a prohibited person, and any win they land is not paid out.

SIGA Rewards is the players card, and joining costs nothing. The same card is used across the 7 SIGA casinos. It has 4 tiers, named Emerald, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. The card is also what RV guests show at the Guest Services Desk to register a stay.

On First Nation land since 1996

Gold Eagle Casino opened in 1996 and was the first casino to open under SIGA. The First Nation that owns its site is Mosquito Grizzly Bear's Head Lean Man.

SIGA (the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority) is a non-profit First Nations organization. Together with LGS (Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan), it operates 7 Saskatchewan casinos. This guide is independent and has no connection to the casino, SIGA or LGS.

Short answers

Is there live blackjack on a Tuesday evening?
Tuesdays have no live blackjack. Dealers run Phil 'Em Up Poker and Blackjack only on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, from 5 pm. A Tuesday visit means slots and the Circuit, until 2 am.
What time does the floor close after a Saturday evening?
On Saturday the floor stays open until 4 am, which falls early on Sunday morning. Friday has the same 4 am close. Saturday's live tables end earlier, at 3 am.
How small can a slot bet be?
Slot denominations start at 1 cent. They come in 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, 25 cents and $1, across more than 300 machines.
Can someone under 19 come along for an evening of play?
No. Saskatchewan sets the gambling age at 19, and at SIGA casinos a younger player counts as a prohibited person whose winnings are withheld. The floor is for guests 19 and up.
